The best way is the way that makes you most comfortable. A bold cold turkey says to the world, “I’ve ditched the dye. This method is defiant, can look cool, but demands confident answers to the questions that will be coming at you. For some, a few months of growth and a pixie chop is a blank slate and a fresh start. For others, a gradual less obvious approach works best, you’ll want to work with a colorist who is an expert in gray blending.

It is common to see gray hair on teens, and even girls, but we never see it because it is usually covered up with hair dye. For way too long we only saw gray hair on the very oldest of people, hence anyone younger considered themselves pre-maturely gray, hence the dogma that gray looks old. Long answer short, is no. What makes us look older than our years is poor health, a tired attitude, and a combination of choices that may make us look frumpy, out of step and irrelevant. It is not the color of the hair.
